Bangsamoro school kids receive education subsidies

Up to 71 elementary and high school students from marginalized families, mostly relying only on propagation of short-term crops and fishing in marshes that connect to Central Mindanao’s Ligawasan Delta, received schooling subsidies from a member of the Bangsamoro parliament on Friday, August 1.

Employees of the Ministry of Social Services and Development-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MSSD-BARMM) and a team from the office of regional lawmaker Kadil Monera Sinolinding, Jr. released P2,000 each for the 52 elementary pupils and P3,000 individually for the 14 high school students during payouts then at his extension office in the Deseret Surgimed Hospital in Kabacan, Cotabato.

One of the 71 beneficiaries from villages in the Old Kaabacan of the Angkat Bangsamoro Kabataan Tungo sa Kaunlaran Project, or ABAKA Project of Sinolinding’s office in the regional parliament is an orphan Moro child. The ABAKA Project is being assisted by BARMM’s chief minister, Abdulrauf Macacua, and the office of the region’s social services minister, the lawyer Raissa Jadjurie.

The Moro dominated Old Kaabacan is one of the eight Bangsamoro municipalities in Cotabato that the 80-member Bangsamoro parliament created last year via separate enabling measures. Cotabato province is under Administrative Region 12, but has 63 barangays grouped together as the Bangsamoro Special Geographic Area, or SGA, that are now covered by eight towns under the BARMM government.

The physician-ophthalmologist Sinolinding also functions as the regional health minister of BARMM in concurrent capacity.

The MSSD-BARMM employees Razul Bagundang, Shilla Mohammad and Fahima Guiomla and subordinates of Sinolinding together facilitated Friday’s release of the subsidies for the ABAKA Project beneficiaries from villages across the Old Kaabacan municipality.

The grants for each of them were drawn from the Transitional Development Impact Fund of Sinolinding’s office in BARMM’s regional lawmaking body.

Sinolinding’s office announced on Saturday, August 2, that its public service team and employees of the regional social services ministry shall soon facilitate payouts too for ABAKA Project beneficiaries in BARMM’s Malidagao, Kapalawan and Ligawasan towns that also covers Bangsamoro SGA barangays in Cotabato province.
