COTABATO CITY (December 28, 2025) —- Personnel of the Datu Odin Sinsuat Municipal Police Station, under its chief, Lt. Col. Esmael Madin, have tightened security in the municipality as part of an effort to ensure peaceful New Year’s Day celebration by the local Christian and indigenous Teduray communities from midnight Wednesday, December 31, until Thursday, January 1.

Policemen under Madin have been setting up random public safety checkpoints since last week to ensure the safety of travelers in private and passenger vehicles passing through stretches of highways under their jurisdiction.

On Sunday morning, December 28, policemen from the Datu Odin Sinsuat MPS inspected vehicles and motorists at a checkpoint at the border of Tamontaka and Awang areas, a peacekeeping operation that lasted for hours.

There has not been any gun-related atrocity in Datu Odin Sinsuat for about four months now and Madin and his subordinates attribute the feat to the extensive support of Mayor Abdulmain Abas and Vice Mayor Bobsteel Sinsuat to their law-enforcement activities throughout the municipality.

According to Madin, Abas and Sinsuat and their constituent-leaders were, in fact, directly involved in many police operations that yielded positive results since the duo’s election to office, as running mates, during the May 12, 2025 elections.
