A 17-year female student had accused a policeman of having raped her inside a police bunkhouse in General Santos City before dawn last Thursday, January 16.
Radio stations in cities and provinces in Central Mindanao reported on Monday morning, January 20, that the victim had reported to the local police that the suspect is a master sergeant, a member of the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the General Santos City Police Office.
Senior officials of the Police Regional Office-12 were quoted in radio reports as saying that the suspect was immediately held for interrogation.
Col. Nicomedes Olaivar, General Santos City police director, had told reporters that probers are to put a closure on the alleged rape incident.
The victim had told police investigators that she and her friends were to return to their houses, from Barangay Bula in General Santos City, when the suspect offered to drive her home but brought her instead to their bunkhouse and raped her in one of the rooms there.
The victim’s aunt accompanied her to a police station to report her alleged ordeal.
Radio reporters in General Santos City had obtained copies of the blotter that they used as reference in reporting the incident. (Jan.20, 2025)
